The holidays are right around the corner and for most of us, that means it’s time to celebrate the things that have made our year truly special. At Weelborg Chevrolet of Glencoe, we’re taking this time to celebrate you—our customers. Without your continued support, we wouldn’t be where we are today, so we’d like to thank you for placing your trust in us.
With the holidays coming so soon, most of us are spending more time on the road with shopping, extra errands, and trips to visit loved ones. As such, it’s a better time than ever to make sure your vehicle is ready for the busy time ahead. At Weelborg Chevrolet of Glencoe, we’re prepared to help you with all of your vehicle needs this holiday season.
It’s also a great time to review some driving tips to keep you and your vehicle safe on the winter roads.
Have Your Vehicle Inspected
Before hitting the road, schedule a routine maintenance check. Ensure your mechanic checks fluids, changes the oil and filters, tests your battery, and completes any necessary repairs. The last thing you want while driving in winter is an unexpected breakdown.

Prepare an Emergency Kit
Winter road conditions can be unpredictable, so it’s best to be prepared at all times. Leave an emergency kit in your vehicle that you can access easily in the event of a breakdown. Make sure it includes:
- Blankets
- Extra clothing
- Non-perishable snacks
- Water
- Lighters or matches
- Hot packs
- A shovel
- Sand or cat litter
- A phone charger and battery backup
Having an emergency kit in your car will give you peace of mind if you ever find yourself stranded and ensure you have access to the supplies you need to keep warm and safe until help arrives.
Switch to Winter Tires
Winter tires are non-negotiable in icy or snowy weather if your vehicle isn’t outfitted with all-season tires. Winter tires are designed with tread patterns that help your tires stay in contact with the road and remain flexible in cold temperatures. Leaving your summer tires on in the winter is dangerous and will wear them down much more quickly.
Allow Extra Time for Travel
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, many people rush out of the house to get where they need to be. Leaving early whenever possible is best to ensure you’re arriving on time but if you can’t do that, remember that arriving late is better than risking your life on the road.
Keep Your Vehicle Locked
Unfortunately, car theft and vehicle break-ins increase during the holidays. When you’re shopping or visiting loved ones, make sure you double-check that your doors and windows are secure, presents and valuables aren’t left in the car, and the alarm is armed.
Have a Safe Holiday Season
We’d like to thank you again for your support this year. We look forward to continuing to serve you throughout the holiday season and in the new year.
